Title:

Hall of Fame

Aim:

Describing people;  past tenses revision

Level:

Upper Intermediate

Time:

60-90 minutes (40 minutes on Net)

Requirements:

 

Hardware:

2-3 students per computer; Internet connection

Software:

Any Web Browser

 

 

Procedure:

 

Pre-computer work:

1.    Pyramid discussion. 
Students make a list individually of their 10 “heroes” past and present.  Then, in pairs, they negotiate a list of 10. 
Continue until the whole class has agreed on 10. 
(If you don’t have the time for this, just brainstorm a list on the whiteboard!)

Computer work:

2.    Students visit the Hall of Heroes site (see below) and check if their names are there.

3.    In groups, students choose three heroes they don’t know and make notes on them.

 

Post-computer work:

4.    Ss. compare information.

5.    Why are there so few women?

6.    Why so few Chinese?
